Car rally in Damascus marking International Quds Day

Under the slogan” Al-Quds, the path of Martyrs “, a car rally was held on Friday in Syria marking the International al-Quds (Jerusalem) Day, in compliance with the precautionary measures taken to tackle the coronavirus.

The rally set off from Umayyad Square in Damascus towards Mazzeh highway to al-Akram Mosque and back to the square.

The participants raised the national flags, and flags of Palestine.

The International al-Quds Day is an annual event held on the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan. The event was first initiated by the Islamic Republic of Iran in 1979 to express solidarity with the Palestinian people in the face of the Zionist Israeli entity and its control of al-Quds.

Damascus commemorates al-Quds Day every year, with mass marches, but it chose this year to be by cars in order to prevent gatherings and adhere to the precautionary measures approved by the government team tasked with confronting coronavirus.
