Iraqi presidencies call for calm, halting political escalation and adopting constructive dialogue

The Presidents of the Republic, Barham Salih, Ministers Mustafa Al-Kazemi, Parliament, Muhammad Al-Halbousi, and the Supreme Judiciary, Faiq Zaidan, called for calm, stopping the political escalation and adopting dialogue to end the current differences.

A statement by the Presidency of the Republic, received by “Al-Ghadeer”, stated that “the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, hosted a meeting that included Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi, Parliament Speaker Muhammad Al-Halbousi, and the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Faiq Zaidan, to discuss developments on the national scene.”

The meeting stressed that “preserving security, stability, and the democratic and constitutional path in Iraq is the duty of all Iraqis, as is the duty of state institutions and national political forces,” noting that “constructive dialogue is the right way to end all current differences in order to preserve the country’s capabilities.”

The meeting renewed its support for the Prime Minister’s call to “hold a new round of national dialogue this week, to discuss and discuss ideas and initiatives related to resolving the current crisis,” and again “the invitation to the brothers in the Sadrist movement to attend the dialogue session.”

The meeting stressed “the high appreciation of reform proposals at all levels, the development of the work of various institutions and the fight against corruption, and the need for the national dialogue to take its course to discuss everything that would translate the aspirations of our honorable people into an actual reality.”

The meeting called on all national forces to “assume responsibility in the current situation in the country, including the adoption of calm at all levels and stopping the political escalation, allowing a fruitful discussion of the immediate solutions offered, a discussion of the general political situation and improving the environment for relations between the various political forces on the basis of the supreme national interest.” And on the basis of the requirements of reform at its many levels,” he called for “the immediate cessation of the current media escalation, which negatively affects the interests of the country and raises concern among the people.”

The meeting thanked “the national social and cultural activities that support the national dialogue and the efforts for calm, resolution and solidarity among the people of the same nation.”
