A statement from the Iraqi National Olympic Committee, received by Al-Ghadir, stated that “the head of the Iraqi National Olympic Committee, Raad Hammoudi, arrived in the Japanese capital, Tokyo, to attend the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games tomorrow, Friday, which Japan will host.”

He added, “The flag of Iraq will be raised at the opening of the Olympic Games, aimed at Fatima Abbas, alongside her colleague in rowing, Muhammad Riyad, and it is the first time that two athletes have raised the Iraqi flag, in an excellent step counted by the Iraqi Olympic Committee and the Olympic Organizing Committee in consolidating equality and sports justice between male and female athletes. “.
