Three killed in Copenhagen mall shooting, Danish police say terror not ruled out

Three people have been killed and several others injured in a shooting at a shopping mall in Copenhagen, Danish police said.

A 22-year-old Danish man was arrested following the shooting, Chief Police Inspector Soren Thomassen told reporters on Sunday, adding that authorities could not rule out it was an “act of terrorism.”

The suspect has been charged with manslaughter and will face questioning in front of a judge on Monday.

The police chief did not talk about the possible motives behind the attack and whether the suspect was known to the police.

“There are several injured, and what we also know now is that there are several dead,” Thomassen said.

At least three people were taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

The shooting happened at multiple locations inside Field’s, a shopping center in the Danish capital.

Eyewitnesses said shoppers were panicked and tried to escape the mall as gunfire rang out inside the shopping center.

Footage on social media showed people running out of the shopping center with heavily armed police present at the scene.

Law enforcement officers have launched a massive investigation throughout the local Zealand region, Thomassen said.
